Meet The Owners
Sara Bailey
Hello, my name is Sara Bailey, and I am one of the founders of Happy Tails Pet Care. Having been raised with dogs and cats, my passion for animals has been a lifelong journey. In high school, I pursued an animal science (veterinary science) pathway. My love for animals extends to understanding their communication and caring for them deeply. Currently, I engage in dog sports with my two dogs. My 7-year-old Labrador Retriever, Russell, introduced me to the world of sport dogs, which has been incredibly educational. Unfortunately, Russell suffered a CCL injury, which led me to study the canine musculoskeletal system. Taking care of him during his recovery and observing his progress was fulfilling. Dog sports have also provided me with the opportunity to meet a diverse group of people and dogs. I aspired to become a veterinary technician, and although I was initially too young for the role, I gained valuable experience working in a kennel attached to a veterinary hospital. This experience exposed me to various aspects of veterinary medicine. My drive to assist animals has always been strong, but I discovered a greater passion for understanding them and interpreting their body language. My increasing success in handling and interacting with animals has solidified my respect and understanding of them. I am currently studying to become a canine behaviorist and aim to achieve certification as a canine trainer. My dedication to loving and caring for animals is evident in my work, and I am committed to doing my utmost for every animal I encounter.
Carah Smith
Hi there! I'm Carah Smith, co-founder of Happy Tails Pet Care. Animals have been my passion for forever. I've been caring for and owning horses for over 13 years, and spent some time studying equine management at Delaware Valley University. During my time at DelVal, I gained hands-on experience in equine care, including, behavior, nutrition, overall management, and more. My studies have provided me with a solid foundation to offer knowledgeable and compassionate care, no matter if they have hooves or paws! I have lifelong experience with dogs and cats as well. My crew at home never fails to keep me on my toes. My special needs dog, Pickles, who is almost completely blind and has some neurological challenges, has been an invaluable teacher in understanding canine behavior. His unique needs have helped me build confidence in managing and working with all types of dogs. I also have experience with other special needs, such as diabetes. Having cared for a diabetic family dog, I’m well-versed in managing diabetes in pets. I’m experienced and comfortable with insulin injections and any administering of oral medications, ensuring effective and compassionate care. In addition to my extensive experience with dogs, I also have a strong background in feline care. My career in animal care began with cats, working alongside a Ragdoll cat breeder throughout high school and continuing until I left for college. This experience was incredibly valuable, allowing me to learn a great deal from someone so passionate and dedicated. I fondly remember those days with my two fur babies, Albert and Eva, both of whom I adopted through her. Building on this foundation, I further honed my skills at a boarding facility within a veterinary hospital from 2023 to 2024. This role provided me with a comprehensive understanding of animal care and behavior. Working with dogs of various sizes, temperaments, and personalities, I gained valuable experience in managing a range of behaviors and even exploring some medical aspects of pet care. This exposure taught me a lot and reinforced my dedication to providing exceptional care for pets. It also highlighted the importance of caring for the clients as well, understanding that leaving a pet behind can be difficult. I strive to offer peace of mind to clients, ensuring they feel confident that their pets are receiving the care and attention they deserve.
